Labor and birth is so powerful and raw, and while we (as mothers) might look back on the moments (that may have seemed so long yet not long enough) during and after labor in an effort to preserve the memory, we are in another world while it’s happening. We’re fighting. We’re working. We’re so eager for that final push.
And then everything changes.
But you only have that one day, when their skin is still fresh, wrinkly, and red. When their faces are still full of the peace they had in the womb. When their scrunch is still so natural because they don’t know what it’s like to stretch out.
The next day, their color fills in, the wrinkles flatten out, and they’re entirely new. And so are you.
